Pressemitteilung: Fulda, 10. 06. 2009

EDAG uses existing core competence from the business areas automotive and aerospace and sets a course to open up new markets in the areas wind power and photovoltaics/solar heat.

CO² discussion, climate change, sustainability: Subjects that implicate threatening changes but also offer immense possibilities. The EDAG Group, the world’s largest independent engineering partner in the areas automotive and aerospace meets the challenge in the automotive and aircraft industry by consistently refining its line of services in the form of innovative approach and assigns existing development expertise to the areas wind power and photovoltaics.

In the past the EDAG division Aerospace, represented by ELAN GmbH, have successfully used the existing expertise in the areas simulation and structural computation to position itself as a qualified development partner for wind power plant construction.

Wind power plant in China

The biggest success to date in this new field is the successful project acquisition to develop a wind power plant for Suzhou TITP Wind Power Technology Ltd. in China. The development agreement was signed in the presence of the EDAG managing director Jörg Ohlsen and Yan Li (Mayor of Suzhou) on 27th May, this is the basis for future development of the field wind power in Fulda and Hamburg. The Suzhou region is home to 6 million people. The plant with a nominal capacity of 2000kW will be stood on a 100m tower, the rotor blades are 45m long and the rotor circular surface is 6000m². This is equivalent to the size of about 2 football fields and the energy output is approx. 4 million kWH/plant and year. The acquisition of this first major project in the development of complete plants EDAG feels encouraged to gradually develop their expertise in this small but growing business area.
