Rainer von Borstel to Head Aerospace Division of EDAG Group
Pressemitteilung: Fulda, 31. 07. 2008
On 1st August 2008, Mr Rainer von Borstel will be taking over the management of the EDAG Group's Aerospace Division. "With Mr. von Borstel, the EDAG Group is gaining a branch expert who has the technical skills and experience to offer the best possible support for our strategic growth in the field of aerospace,“ affirmed Manfred Hahl, COO of the EDAG Group, responsible for Manufacturing Equipment und Aerospace.
Consequence of dynamic growth
Rainer von Borstel was most recently employed by Airbus as Senior Vice President, responsible for the development and supply of cabin equipment, cargo compartments and their systems. Prior to that, Cuxhaven-born von Borstel was employed by Airbus in Hamburg, in managerial positions in engineering and program management, and as Managing Director of KID Systeme GmbH, an Airbus subsidiary in Buxtehude.Since 2000, the EDAG Group, with its Aerospace Division, has also been successfully working as an engineering partner to the aerospace industry, in the fields of engineering and plant construction, and has established itself as a preferred supplier to Airbus parent company EADS. The purchase of Mühlenberg in January 2007 meant that our range of services increased, to include the equipping of aircraft cabins. Then, when Lühmann Ingenieur AG was acquired early in 2008, our engineering capacity was augmented further. In the meantime, our Aerospace division now employs over 600 people.
The logical consequence of such dynamic growth within the EDAG Group's youngest division has been this year's restructuring in the organisation of the affiliates.
Link with the EDAG group
To create a link with the EDAG Group, the holding company EDAG Aerospace GmbH, Fulda was founded. Affiliate EDAG SIGMA CE GmbH, Hamburg, now acts as the holding company for all operative activities within the Aerospace division. In his role of Managing Director, Rainer von Borstel will be responsible for both companies.ELAN EDAG GmbH, Hamburg, which provides the EDAG Group's engineering services for the aerospace industry, will continue to remain under the management of Jörg Hoppe and Jörg Manthey. On account of his years of experience in cabin development and manufacturing, Rainer von Borstel also will be joining the management of Mühlenberg Interiors GmbH & Co. KG in Hamburg.
