ATON gives 2.8 million Euros to GSD staff

ATON GmbH says good-bye to the 167 employees of the Berlin-based software company GSD, which ATON has sold to Siemens, by giving them a surprise donation: Every staff member gets 5.200 Euros, gift tax-free. Combined with the bonus for the management, ATON GmbH pays 2.8 million Euros for the staff, thought as an extraordinary appreciation for doing a great job.
Signal for the future
Dr. Lutz Helmig: “I gratefully say good-bye to the employees of GSD and I know that they will have excellent chances for development with Siemens. The donation is supposed to cause an additional boost of motivation for their further employment at Siemens.” Both the location in Berlin and all jobs were secured by the transfer of the company.In November 2006 Dr. Lutz Helmig gave 2.4 M worth of Air Berlin PLC shares to the employees of the Airline dba. Now, he wants to set a similar signal with the GSD: “The donation is supposed to be a sign that German entrepreneurs are able to think about their co-workers. I hope that this sign gets other financial investors thinking.
On January 1st, 2007, ATON GmbH has sold all the shares of the Company for Application Research and Services mbH (GSD) to the Siemens AG. In the fiscal year 2006, the GSD, with 167 employees, had a turnover of 23.6 M Euros, the business is active in 14 countries with 300 clients. The sales agreement became legally effective on March 1st, 2007. The business is going to be renamed to Siemens Medical Solutions GSD GmbH, the base will stay in Berlin.
